Reserve now for Marine Corps Ball
Reservations are due by Monday, Oct. 24, for York’s Marine Corps Ball.
The event is hosted by the First Capitol Detachment of the Marine Corps League and includes a sit-down dinner, dancing, birthday cake and a Marine of the Year presentation.
“Birthday cake?” you ask. That’s because the annual event also serves as a birthday celebration for the Marine Corps, which turns 236 this year.
The event’s featured speaker is Lt. Gen. Carol Mutter, the first woman to be promoted to a three-star rank in the corps. The music after dinner will be performed by the Citations.
Reservations for the ball are $35. Contact Stewart Langley at (717) 764-3706 or by e-mailing dncbrady@comcast.net.
The Marine Corps Ball tradition made big news earlier this year when Sgt. Scott Moore of the 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines asked Hollywood actress Mila Kunis to his Marine Corps Ball in a YouTube video.
When Kunis was told of the proposal, she accepted — and later her Friends with Benefits co-star Justin Timberlake accepted a similar invitation.
