Poet Wayne Miller at York College
Wayne Miller, author of the poetry collections The City, Our City, The Book of Props and Only the Senses Sleep, will give a free reading of his work at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the Wolf Hall Art Gallery at York College, 441 Country Club Road, Spring Garden Township.
Miller is an award-winning poet who teaches at the University of Central Missouri.

The Mason-Dixon Public Library will host its seventh annual Winter Blues Book Sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4.
Children’s and adult books will be on sale, with paperbacks priced at 25 cents. Proceeds will help the library purchase new books. The sale is organized by the Friends of the Mason-Dixon Library.
The library is located at 250 Bailey Drive in Stewartstown.

David Sedaris, bestselling author and humorist for National Public Radio, will give York fans a firsthand experience with social satire when he reads from his works, signs books and takes questions from the audience at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at the Strand, 50 N. George St., York.
Tickets are $30-$40 and go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24.

Mechanicsburg-area author Carl Alves will visit Irvin’s Books in the Carlisle Commerce Center, 2159 White St., West Manchester Township, to sign copies of his debut fantasy thriller, Two for Eternity.

Southcentral Pennsylvania ice skater and children’s author Olga Jaffae will visit Irvin’s Books in the Carlisle Commerce Center, 2159 White St., West Manchester Township, to sign copies of books from her Skateland series.
Jaffae’s newest book, Cammie and Alex’s Adventures in the Icy Park, is the fourth in the series. She’ll sign copies from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the store.
The book series follows the exploits of two young friends who live in the magical village of Skateland, where everyone skates from place to place.

For the third year running, The York Emporium is playing host to authors struggling to beat the clock — and writers’ block — during National Novel Writing Month.
If you’re up for the challenge — to write a 50,000-word novel in one month — and want some fellowship and support, pack up your laptop or old-school notebook and writing utensils and camp out at the store all day every Saturday in November.
The free NaNoWriMo support is open to all writers from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays at the shop, 343 W. Market St., York.
