A stage production of the much-beloved musical family drama will allow Yorkers to share the joys and sorrows of life among Russian Jews at the beginning of the 20th century. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, 50 N. George St., York.

DreamWrights Youth & Family Theatre kicks off its 2012 season with a comedy destined to have the audience rolling in the aisles — and joining the cast on stage.
May the Farce Be With You takes a tongue-in-cheek look at superheroes who come under attack by aliens. Get the scoop on the comedy, action and adventure of Farce and DreamWrights’ 2012 season in the York Weekend feature story.
The show starts at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 17-18 and 24-25 and March 2-3 and at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 18-19 and 25-26 and March 3-4 at the theater, 100 Carlisle Ave., York. The first Saturday performance, Feb. 18, will be audio-described for the visually impaired and feature a touch tour at 1:30 p.m. A playlet and breakfast for young theater-goers (ages 3 to 6) will be presented at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 3.
Tickets are $12 for reserved seating and $8 for general admission. Tickets must be purchased in advance for the audio-described performance. Playlet tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance.

The award-winning musical troupe Blast is visiting York with its surfeit of energy and riot of sound.
Blast features dozens of performers with brass and percussion instruments and acrobatic moves. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, 50 N. George St., York.

An unexpected encounter in a greenhouse hot on the heels of the revelation of a shocking family secret leads life in a new direction in Grotesque Lovesongs.
The Don Nigro comedy, loosely adapted from Pierre et Jean by Guy de Maupassant, will take the stage for five nights in the Perko Playpen Theatre in the Collegiate Performing Arts Center on the York College campus, 441 Country Club Road, Spring Garden Township.
The York College Players will perform the show at 7:30 p.m. nightly from Tuesday, Feb. 7, through Saturday, Feb. 11. The play is free and open to the public.

York Little Theatre will hold auditions for Xanadu on Monday, Feb. 6, and Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the theater, 27 S. Belmont St., Spring Garden Township.
The off-the-wall, roller-skating musical romance will be directed by Aaron Dalton and run April 13-22.
The audition process is open to adult actors; participants should be prepared to sing 16 bars of a pop/Broadway style song, to do a cold read from the script, and to dance. Headshots and resumes are requested but not required. Actors should also have a list of scheduling conflicts for February through April.
If needed, callbacks will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8.
